Nancy Leigh Bahr

Nancy Leigh Bahr, age 84, of Cecil, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at her home. Nancy was born on May 7, 1941, in Town of Morgan, Wisconsin to the late Oren and Helen (McEwing) Gilbertson. She graduated from Gillett High School. Nancy worked at Maple Lane Health Care for many years until retiring at 65. She cared for and loved her cats and had many throughout her life. Nancy was united in marriage to Maynard Bahr; he preceded her in death in 2002. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Green Valley. Nancy enjoyed her flowers and gardening, ordering seeds from seed catalogs and watching them bloom in her windows. She loved listening and singing to her old country music CDs and tapes, especially Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, Tanya Tucker, George Jones, Elvis Presley and the like. Nancy was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and she was a caring and loving woman.
Nancy is survived by her children, Shelly Zernicke, Brian (Cindy) Sohr and Holly (Michael) Knapp; grandchildren, Stacey Zernicke, Charlotte (Jeremy) Knors, Talor (Tony Tucker) Sohr, Elizabeth (Ben) Koepsell, Alex (Hevana Standke) Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Leighannah, Waylon, Jordan, Blake, Stella and Axel. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Oren and Helen Gilbertson; husband, Maynard Bahr; former husband, Maynard Sohr; siblings, Emerald (Pearl) Gilbertson, Delores (Vernon) Christensen, Loyal (June) Gilbertson and Mavis (Gordon) McMahon.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Green Valley. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday, from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
