Michael L. Mohawk, Jr.

Michael L. Mohawk, Jr., age 57 of Bowler, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, April 27, 2026, following a courageous three-year battle with cancer.
Michael was born May 7, 1968, in Shawano, a son of Judy (Colbert) Mohawk and the late Michael Mohawk, Sr. He attended school in Bowler and graduated from Bowler High School with the Class of 1986. Following high school, he entered the U.S. Army where he served for four years, stationed at Ft. Carson in Colorado. Michael was a heavy equipment operator in the motor pool. Following his service, he worked building log homes in Montana. Michael returned to Wisconsin in the late 1990’s and was employed at Boldt Construction. His final job was working as a slot technician at the North Star Casino. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, ice fishing, entertaining with a grill, woodworking, and repairing small motors. He collected hot sauce as a hobby.
Survivors include his son, Andrew (Callie) Mohawk of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; his grandchildren, Brooks and Margot; his mother, Judy Mohawk of Bowler; his siblings, Doreen Mohawk of Green Bay, Marlene (Jerry) Poquette of Green Bay, Matthew (Jacquie) Mohawk of Shawano, Sharlene (Bob) White of Bowler, and Joleen (Craig) Kroening of Bowler; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; and his faithful companions, Blue and Mingo. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Michael Mohawk, Sr. on August 24, 2022; his uncles, Jerry Mohawk, George Mohawk, Sr., Duane Schreiber, and Garry Colbert; his aunts, Carol Mohawk, Janice Mohawk, and Ellen Schreiber; and three cousins, Milford Mohawk III, Jerilyn Johnson, and Trevor Mohawk.
A visitation for Michael will be held at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 12:00 pm until the final prayer at 1:00 pm. Pastor Paul Johnson will officiate. Interment with full military honors conducted by the Veterans of the Mohican Nation will follow at Red Springs Cemetery, Town of Red Springs.
