Patsy “Pat” Marie (Kohn) Skogen

Patsy “Pat” Marie (Kohn) Skogen, age 81, passed away after a short battle with dementia. She was born on January 16, 1945, in Bonduel to Eugene and Mabel (Simon) Kohn. She was the oldest of seven children.
On July 11, 1964, Pat married Gerald “Jerry” Skogen. After living in Appleton for a short time, they moved to the Skogen family farm in Marion, where they spent the rest of their lives together and raised their family.
Pat was a hardworking farm wife who was a big part of making the farm successful. She had polio as a young girl and lived with disabilities because of it, but she never let that stop her. She drove tractor, milked cows, fed calves, hauled wagons, and did whatever needed to be done. She always said, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” And that was Pat.
Pat loved kids. She taught Sunday school and played a big part in raising some of her grandchildren. Her grandchildren have so many wonderful memories of Grandma’s house, where they always felt loved and welcome. They loved being there so much that they never wanted to leave.
Pat was an excellent cook and loved taking care of her family. She had big gardens and spent many hours canning and preserving food. There was always plenty to eat, and nobody ever left the farm hungry, even the hired hay balers.
Pat loved going on vacations with Jerry, family, and friends. She also enjoyed road trips with her daughters and grandchildren, dining out, going to plays at The Fireside, and simply spending time with the people she loved.
Pat will be deeply missed by her husband of 62 years, Gerald “Jerry” Skogen; her children, Kathy (Rich Butzen) Reissmann, John Skogen of Elmwood, Sheri (Randy Mertens) Miller, and Jolene (Joseph) Sweere.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan (Amber) Lohrentz, Nicole (Chris) Weinert, Brandon (Alicia) Lohrentz, Dylan (Tori) Reissmann, Paul Skogen, Lindsey (Eli) Skogen, Joe Skogen, Isabelle Skogen, Natalie Skogen, Justin (Devon) Miller, Travis (Michelle) Miller, Megan (Spenser) Thiel, Matthew Sweere, and Caleb Sweere, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pat is also survived by her sisters, Lois Kohn and Cindy Warpinski (Dennis); her brother, Lee (Mary) Kohn; sisters-in-law, Alice Prill and Barbara Nabbefeld; brothers-in-law, Roger Bolwerk and Don Knispel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Jerry’s parents, Paul and Lorraine (Hippe) Skogen; three sisters; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pat’s life was all about family. She worked hard, loved deeply, and always made sure the people around her were taken care of. She gave so much of herself to her family and her farm, and she created a home where everyone was welcome.
Her family will remember her for the many memories made at Grandma’s house, especially all of her giggles after a glass of wine.
Pat will be deeply missed by everyone who loved her. Her family is grateful for all the years, memories, laughter, hard work, and love she gave them. She will always be loved and never forgotten.
Pat’s family would like to thank all of the staff at Care Partner’s Assisted Living and Compassus Hospice for caring for Pat during her battle.
Funeral services for Pat will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 9, 2026, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marion with Denise Pamperin officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of service. Interment will immediately follow the service at Trinity-St. John’s Cemetery in the Town of Dupont, Waupaca County.
